Greetings! My name is Brooks, and I’m an audio engineer and musician based in Chicago, Illinois. I’ve been playing guitar/bass/electronics in bands since I was a child, and have been engineering studio recordings/concert sound professionally for about 6 years now.

I moved to Chicago a few years ago to intern at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio and eventually found myself leading sessions there post-internship. Since then, I’ve worked out of studios such as Electrical, Jamdek, Palisade Studios, and various DIY spaces. A little over a year ago, I helped open West Town Magnetics in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. More recently, I completed an apprenticeship at the Chicago Mastering Service, and have been mastering records at WTM. You can also find me running sound at a few clubs in Chicago, and various performance venues around the states.

Stylistically, I would say that I aim for precise documentation of a band while knowing when it’s time for “producing” or stylizing the music with more experimental techniques. I learned to record/mix on analog tape, mixing consoles, effects processors and love keeping a record in the analog domain when possible. I also really enjoy the hybridization of tangible electronics and digital audio workstations. Would love to hear about where you see your project going and how I could supplement the tunes.
